10:3011:30360° STRATEGY: A CASE FOR THE POWER OF PUBLISHERS
KEYNOTE
Once upon a time, publishers lived a peaceful and secure existence on an island unto themselves. But suddenly the waters got rough. App developers, tech companies, even games developers invaded the island and publishers suddenly ran the risk of being expelled from this paradise…

But one German publisher is proving that it doesn’t have to be this way. In a very short period of time, Bastei Lübbe Publishing Group has transformed itself from a traditional publisher to a media company that is fit for the future. The Cologne-based publisher is undoubtedly a pioneer. Back in 2010, it launched a purely digital program with “Digital First”. It also published the first ever web novel, Mario Giordano’s bestseller “Apocalypsis”. The publisher’s list currently comprises 3,600 titles, 2,600 of which are digital.

In this session, Felix Rudloff, Vice President of Bastei Lübbe Entertainment, will share exclusive insights into his publishing house’s 360° strategy.

SPEAKER:
Felix Rudloff(菲利克斯 • 鲁德洛夫), Member of the Executive Board, Bastei Luebbe Group, Germany

PANEL DISCUSSION
A story consists of more than just words. The way a story is presented is just as important. Style, design, feel and appearance play at least as an important role as the language itself. Sometimes they even tell a story of their own.

But how are artistic design and production changing in the digital age? What’s happening with the “back to print” trend? This panel will focus on the aesthetic and physical aspects of the book and their impact on storytelling – both now and in the future.

SPEAKERS:
Wang Jiaming(汪家明), President, China Fine Arts Publishing Group, China
Chen Peng(陈芃), Segment Manager, HP China Publishing Segment, China
