James is a partner in the firm's Film and TV department.
His practice centres around the monetisation of intellectual property rights with particular focus on the production, financing and distribution of feature films and television programmes. His clients include Oscar-winning producers, private equity houses, tax advantaged investors, government institutions, and talent.

Films and television programmes on which James has recently advised include Iron Lady, Great Expectations, The Sweeney, Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, Mamma Mia!, Pusher, An Idiot Abroad, and Life's Too Short.

James gave a keynote address at South By Southwest 2011 in his capacity as co-head of the firm's Transmedia group. He was also a tutor on the Inside Pictures film business training course between 2004 and 2010.
