Philippa Donovan is a commissioning editor at Egmont Press. Previously she has worked as a scout for several international publishers and Heyday Films, and as an associate agent at A P Watt. 

Philippa also runs her own literary and digital consultancy, Smart Quill Editorial, the first of its kind. The consultancy offers manuscript assessment and freelance editorial services to writers of any genre. The aim is to enable a direct conversation between editor and author, enhancing text and improving publication prospects. Smart Quill's blog and agent contacts have already resulted in several offers of representation and international book deals.

In 2012 Philippa plans to launch a Smart Quill digital navigation service, in order to provide authors with comprehensive options regarding ebook publication via platforms like Kindle and iAuthor.
